About First Lady Jonette Jackson

First Lady Jonette Jackson is persuaded that “neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, not things to come, not height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39).  

First Lady Jonette Jackson was born in Augusta, Georgia on May 4, 1980 to Johnny and Barbara Merriweather.  She is the older of two siblings. Her family relocated to Colonial Heights, Virginia, where she was formerly educated in the Chesterfield County Public School System, graduating in the Class of 1998 from Matoaca High School.  She matriculated at Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia, where she received a Bachelor of Music Degree and then Capella University, receiving a Masters Degree in Higher Education.  First Lady Jackson is the wife of Rev. Dr. Tyrone Jackson, Jr., Pastor of First Baptist Church Campostella, Norfolk, VA, where she serves as the Minister of Music.  Together in ministry, they form a dynamic duo.  They are also the proud parents of a precious gift from God, Tyla J.

First Lady Jackson’s passion for music has afforded her the opportunity to serve as a faithful musician for several churches in theTri-Cities area, including: Greater Faith A.M.E. Zion Church, where she dedicated her life to Christ at the age of twelve.  At the age of fifteen, while attending Greater Faith A.M.E. Zion Church, realizing her gift for music, she began directing the Youth and Children’s Choir and eventually becoming their musician.  Lady Jackson, later joined Olive Branch Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, Virginia under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Alfred L. Thompson, Sr. and the current pastoral leadership of her  Pastor, Rev. Dr. Kevin Northam.  

First Lady Jackson is a trained classical and gospel musician. She has exhibited her God-given talent as a music teacher with the Joan Reed’s Studio (Petersburg, Virginia), G-Clef Studio (Richmond, Virginia), and Don Strach Music in Colonial Heights, Virginia.  She is the founder of Jonette’s School of Music, L.L.C., where she is a piano instructor of all ages, teaching various genres of music.  Her gift of music transcends beyond teaching piano and music lessons.  She has worked at Advantage Christian School and Heritage Preparatory School as a private school teacher.  She was also a tutor with Educational Partnership, helping students pass the Standards of Learning (SOL) Test.  Currently, she is an Adjunct Professor at Virginia State University, teaching the Class Piano Program.  

Lady Jackson’s greatest joy is having the opportunity of serving as the Minister of Music for First Baptist Church Campostella. She also supports various ministries of the church.  Since serving in this capacity, Lady Jackson has brought joy, prayerfulness, and passion to all who has been blessed by her anointing.  She is a true woman of God and encourages the body of Christ to hold on to the promises of God.  Most of all, she loves God with all her heart, mind, and soul.  She has dedicated her life to pleasing the Lord and doing all to lift up the Name of Jesus.
